Laser reduces hair growth for the long term. You can skip the razor, the wax and the ingrown hairs.
Laser hair removal is done as a course. Every new client comes back several times.
The laser light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle and heats it, so hair growth is reduced. The surrounding skin is cooled at the same time.
Hair grows in three phases, and only hair in the growth phase is affected, about 30 per cent at a time. That is why the treatment is done as a course of sessions a few weeks apart.

On average 3–8 treatments, 6–8 weeks apart. The number depends on hair type, amount of hair and the area. Reduced hair growth is often visible after 2–3 treatments.
Most people feel a slight prickling or warm sensation. The laser cools the skin and the practitioner adjusts the energy to your skin and hair.
Shave the area 24 hours before. Do not let your skin get sunburnt, do not use self-tan for seven days before, and do not wax, epilate or use tweezers for four weeks before.
Avoid baths and saunas for 24 hours and sun for 48 hours. After that, use SPF 50 sun protection. If you have your underarms treated, wait a day before using deodorant.
The laser targets the pigment in the hair and works best on dark hair. Darker skin is treated with adjusted settings. White and grey hair lack pigment and do not respond.
Reasons to avoid treatment include pregnancy and breastfeeding, light-sensitising medication, active herpes or infection in the area, and recently sunburnt skin. The clinic always goes through a health questionnaire first.
